The Ramsey Creek Preserve, near Westminster, SC,  was the first conservation burial project in the world. Conservation burial is more than a greener version of the contemporary cemetery. It is about creating a new kind of space where the burials themselves help to protect and ecologically restore significant landscapes for natural communities and for people to enjoy and pass on to future generations. This blog is about conservation burial, cool new conservation science, the joy of being in nature and discovery, other issues and (maybe not too many) rants about those organizations and individuals who are less than helpful. I (Billy Campbell) am entirely responsible for the content, and do not speak for all conservation burial practitioners.
